The Stock S-LSA 2010 Style "NACA Like Ducts" on the Top Engine Cowling

Limitations -

  • at higher Angle of Attack,  these two top cowling ducts get blocked by the aircraft nose,  limiting air flow into the engine cowling.
  • The earlier design CRUZ S-LSA Top Engine Cowling had a quick "DROP" into the NACA Duct inlet as shown in this picture;  in later model CRUZ S-LSA,  the NACA submerged Inlet ramp is much more gradual,  presumably a better air flow design matching the original NACA submerged Inlet Duct Design
