  3. my wife and I were ALSO both student pilots at the same time way back in 2011 and we also decided to BUY the flight school airplane - a great decision * - this has worked very well for us ! have y’all both Solo’d yet ? * Owning your own airplane is definitely a MONEY MAKING Enterprise….at least that’s our story and we are sticking to it… LOL
  4. (772) 918-8242 Taylor in the Parts Department, at Cruiser Aircraft / KBTF Utah. My experience had been very good with the folks in Utah for CRUZ aircraft specific parts. However, expect to wait MONTHS for some “special” unique CRUZ aircraft specific parts that need to be produced at the Cruiser LSA Airplane factory in the Czech Republic. The bottleneck for these unique CRUZ S-LSA aircraft specific parts is in the Czech Republic, NOT Utah. And, my opinion, a CRUZ Aircraft owner should ALWAYS buy “NON CRUZ Specific” Aircraft Parts, for example Rotax engine parts, Dynon & Garmin Avionics, more, … parts direct from the original Rotax engine and/or Dynon/Garmin avionics manufacturer, NOT from CruiserAircraft. And, remember that one of the benefits of owning a CRUZ LSA with simple aluminum / riveted airplane wings, rudder, ailerons, elevator. …, is that aluminum / Rivet repair techniques are widely available that do NOT require any parts from Cruzer Aircraft. And there are a large amount of “parts” like the main landing gear legs, wing tip lights, ELT’s, Com/VOR/transponder antennas, trim position sensors, center throttle, pitot/static tube, …, and more that can and should be bought direct from the original part manufacturer, NOT Thru CruiserAircraft.

  11. recommend checking the cruiseraircraft website for applicable service bulletins for your particular aircraft. below is a sampling of landing gear (nose and main gear) bulletins https://cruiseraircraft.cz/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SB-CR-016_R6.pdf https://cruiseraircraft.cz/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/sb-cr-021_r0.pdf https://cruiseraircraft.cz/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SB-SC-047_R2.pdf https://cruiseraircraft.cz/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SB-SC-048.pdf https://cruiseraircraft.cz/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/SB-SC-054_R0.pdf

  14. DeltaFox excellent post on the LSAERONAUT Blog. Agree. The details on wiring a Garmin GDL-39 ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather Receiver to a Garmin 696 GPS Display are well documented on the SCFLIER Forum. My CRUZ aircraft is (since 2016) Experimental E-LSA and the GDL-39 wired interface to 696 GPS Display works well. A Proven wired 696 Display interface. Very useful and Easy to Do. Having the local TRAFFIC and WEATHER displayed on the INSTRUMENT PANEL Mounted 696 GPS is awesome ! Of course, a SportCruiser/PiperSport aircraft owner can use the Czech approved 1090 MHz GTX-335 ADS-B OUT (Only) S-LSA solution, coupled with a PORTABLE (not hard wired) GDL-39 (or the new Garmin GDL-50) ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather receiver to display Traffic and Weather on a portable iPAD in flight, but I am a strong believer on having the TRAFFIC and WEATHER displayed on the GPS Installed in the Aircraft Panel. And, the GARMIN GDL-82 978 MHz UAT ADS-B OUT solution is much easier to install than the 1090 MHz GTX-335, the GDL-82 solution is cheaper, and works with most Mode C (not Mode S) Transponders. The GDL-82 ADS-B OUT Solution is Highly recommended. But the Czechs don’t like it because 978 MHz ADS-B OUT UAT devices are not legal for use in Europe, or anywhere outside the USA. And, While I agree that getting the Czech Manufacturer to approve Letters of Authorization is VERY difficult, they have issued LOA’s in the past - I have several from the US Sport Aircraft Importer era when my aircraft was still S-LSA. Easy to get approved ? NO. But LOA’s for tail number specific S-LSA CRUZ Aircraft do exist, including my LOA for an ADS-B OUT device, a more accurate two pointer round gage backup altimeter, ...., more... Also, during the Cruiser Aircraft USA SportCruiser Importer era, the Czech management does have a new method that allows an aircraft owner to “Pay for LOA“ development. As far as I know, no USA SportCruiser Aircraft owner has used this path to get an LOA. It’s easy to be negative about the Czech support after the sale, but this “Pay For LOA” method DOES EXIST. If an aircraft owner wants to spend time, money, and frustration working with the Czechs using the new “Pay For LOA” method, I am willing to help. At the very least, dealing with the Czechs will build strong character. Dave See this link on SCFLIER for GDL-39 to 696 GPS wiring details (and other Proven ADS-B IN GPS Display methods). 16. Great ! thanks for commenting on this annoying problem. I am glad we could get it fixed. D
  17. A new SSL has been applied to our website SW. Better ? Admin
  18. I see the same “open boxes”. I believe this is fallout / degradation of the “new and improved” IPS Software. The look is the same on a Windows computer, iPad, and iPhone. I plan to see if this is resolved in the next incremental SW update. Everything works, but I agree it looks “unfinished”... I also have opened a “Support Ticket” with the IPS Folks to understand why this new “feature” came with the latest IPS Website SW Update. They usually respond within two days or so - I will update this posting with their comments / suggestions. Admin

  20. Update on our Website SW folk’s plans to “Archive” And then impose a penalty preventing specific backups if the Admin (me) “Un-Archives” said posts: i pushed back hard on the plan from our website SW folks to start “Archiving” some of our older Posts, and then to Disallow any further posting to that topic. While I was able to “unarchive” this example Post discussed here on “bolts for rivets”, this step then added the “Penalty” which prevented the “recently archived and then Un-archived by the Admin (me)” posts from being regularly backed up. Not Good, but it got us going again. Without agreeing the problem was RESOLVED, I asked them (politely) how much they would charge On our monthly fee to continue doing regular backups on EVERYTHING in SCFLIER, including posts that I elected to “un-archive” after they arbitrarily “archived it” to save storage space. After about a week of silence, this is their courteous, RECONSIDERED response from “Management” - some progress - a good thing...Fun Fun Fun... Lindy Throgmartin(Invision Community) Sep 23, 2020, 12:24 AM EDT Hi Dave, I'm sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and the delay in response. We've been trying to reconsider this internally. In the next release, communities with less than 250k posts will be unarchived. Further, even above that limit, you will be able to change the max cutoff to 12 years. I hope this helps and we hope to have that pushed out to you soon! -- Lindy Throgmartin Management Team Invision Power Services, Inc
  21. RTK while I like the idea - that we may have a high percentage of the total worldwide SportCruiser aircraft OWNERS as Members of SCFLIER - that may not be the case for the following reasons: A high percentage, typically > 60 % of new SCFLIER Members join the SCFLIER SportCruiser forum to LEARN about the PS-28/ SportCruiser/PiperSport aircraft BEFORE they actually BUY one. while we do, in fact, today have 509 Activated SCFLIER Members, only about 5-10 % of Members ever participate. Even Once. Many new members contact me via email one to six months after “joining” to learn how to Sign-In to the SCFLIER Forum, either because they forgot their password, or they don’t realize that their “Display Name” entered at “sign up” is used to Sign-In to the SCFLIER Forum... while there is a large majority of SCFLIER Members that do VIEW Postings on the forum, it is relatively rare for a new Member to Participate, although of course PARTICIPATING is welcome ! ! ! and also the best way to LEARN more about our fine SportCruiser aircraft. Since so few members actually PARTICIPATE in SCFLIER Forum postings, it is difficult to determine how many New Members, who joined SCFLIER to LEARN MORE (before buying) about the SportCruiser aircraft’s Reliability, Performance, Maintenance, Rotax engine, and Czech Manufacturer Support, ...actually end up BUYING a SportCruiser/PiperSport/PS-28 aircraft... In any case, More Members is a Good Thing. And MORE MEMBERS PARTICIPATING by Posting on the SCFLIER Forum, and joining in the always Respectful Dialogue... is a GREAT THING !!! D
