  1. WmInce i understand the request, but the last time I checked with our Website supplier DELETION of a prior Member's post was not included in the new Version 4.2.3. However, EVERYONE can EDIT their own existing "OLD" posts, and one way to "Delete" the post is to Edit your old Post so that there is ZERO Material left in the post remaining. "select all", "cut" (delete) the typing selected, and delete any attached pictures you no longer like (click the little "trash can" Icon on top of the picture list at the bottom of the EDIT area) and EVERYTHING -- all typing and images and links, etc., in that post can be simply removed by the original SCFLIER who generated the post. This takes a few more clicks, but it removes the essence of a prior post. Same effect as a "one click Delete". Of course SCFLIER "Sally Jones" can NOT EDIT the post That was originally entered by SCFLIER "James Smith".... An example with fictitious names of course...apologies to any Real SCFLIER Members with the last names "Jones" and "Smith". The SCFLIER POSTS "belong" to the SCFLIER Member that generated them and they can be Edited ONLY by the original Member person who entered that particular post. Of course the Admin can delete any posts that may be objectionable in some way but we never have had that problem here.... Any SCFLIER Member can EDIT their old posts if you want to correct an error or delete all comments you entered, or if you change your mind about what you may have typed, or if you want to add new information later....it is also YOUR CHOICE if you want to click the "Show that the message has been edited" choice box - this will flag the Edited post as NEW to all Members, or a Member can just manually type into the original post during your Post EDIT, some words like ".....I edited this post on June 5, 2017 because of ......" this way avoids boring everyone with some detail editing that you may want to do, perhaps to correct a spelling error ??? or change something perhaps not worth NOTIFYING ALL SCFLIER Members about, via their "Blue dots and Blue stars symbols" the next time they log in ...... Lots of choices..... Regards D
  2. FYI and for your "preparation" to all SCFLIER SportCruiser Forum Members I will be upgrading the SCFLIER Forum IPS Software to the latest Version 4.2.3 which is now available as of yesterday, and advertised by our Website Software Support Company to provide new features, fix additional small issues and repair security issues found by other IPS forum customers. If you have any Material on the SCFLIER Forum that is NOT Backed up somewhere by you in a Personal Backup Drive, you may want to take action today to protect that material as you may see fit. I expect minimal problems with this 4.2.3 SCFLIER Website Software Upgrade, but being Prepared may be wise. The 4.2.3 Upgrade should occur tomorrow, Thursday Afternoon, about 20:00 Zulu time, on 8/31/2017. There may be some downtime with the SCFLIER Forum not accessible during the Upgrade. Enjoy Dave

  5. Bob OK. Great. Thanks again for making this Raffle Interesting I have already generated the first 15 "Next In-Line" Runner Up potential GDL-39 3D winners from my original Random Number sequence. I'll email the first person "In-Line" now and report back when I find the new GDL-39 3D "Re-Winner". Surely there are SOME "Participating" SCFLIERs that don't already OWN a GDL-39 ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather Receiver .... Lots of fun D
  6. CONGRATULATIONS to "CRUSADER16" one of our "Participating" SCFLIER SportCruiser Forum members, who is the WINNER of the Garmin GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN Dual Band Traffic and Weather Receiver with AHRS ! There are lots of Options on how to Safely and Legally use a Garmin GDL-39 3D in a SportCruiser. Whether Crusader16 decides .... to stay S-LSA with their SportCruiser and use the GDL-39 3D as a PORTABLE battery powered ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather and BACKUP Attitude device, feeding a Portable Garmin Aera 660 wirelessly, using only the internal GDL-39 GPS antenna and the "stubby" GDL-39 ADS-B IN antenna, or to go Experimental E-LSA and Integrate the GDL-39 3D, aircraft powered, into an upgraded new Avionics stack on the CRUZ E-LSA panel, using both the External Belly Mount RAMI AV-74 ADS-B IN antenna and the External GPS Top Mount antenna, or if Czech Sport Aircraft issues Crusader16 a tail number specific S-LSA Letter of Authorization for fully aircraft integrated use of the GDL-39 3D, perhaps the GDL-39 3D powered by the aircraft +12 V DC power and then wirelessly feeding the GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN data link Traffic and Weather information and AHRS measurements to an Aera 660 Garmin GPS integrated into their SportCruiser panel with a new AirGizmo Aera 660 GPS panel mount, of if the GDL-39 3D is simply used on an S-LSA SportCruiser, independent of the aircraft avionics, battery powered as a portable device using only the internal GDL-39 GPS antenna and the "stubby" GDL-39 ADS-B IN antenna, with the GDL-39 3D wirelessly feeding "just" an iPad APP like Garmin Pilot or ForeFlight the Garmin GDL-39 3D is an AWESOME piece of ADS-B IN / AHRS Aircraft Electronics ! Coupled with a TBD installed "Participating" ADS-B OUT solution, and when communicating with the USA FAA Ground ADS-B Radio Towers, the GDL-39 3D can provide a COMPLETE picture of Dual Band ADS-B IN Traffic in a custom 30 Nmile, +- 3500 ft Altitude "Hockey Puck" that follows your aircraft everywhere you go. Also, the GDL-39 3D can receive "Air to Air" Dual Band (978 Mhz and 1090 Mhz) Traffic information when blocked by terrain or out of range of the USA FAA ADS-B radio towers. When communicating via DataLink to the USA FAA ADS-B radio towers, the GDL-39 3D can provide ADS-B IN FIS-B Weather information (USA Only). And finally, Worldwide, the GDL-39 3D can also provide a Backup AHRS Attitude "SynVis" display on compatible Garmin GPS devices or iPad APPs ! I will be contacting Crusader16 via email to arrange delivery of the GDL-39 3D and accessories soon. I recommend that Crusader16 contact his A&P and also a local USA FAA Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) to determine the best allowable options for use of the GDL-39 3D so that their SportCruiser aircraft remains fully USA FAA Legal and Safe to Operate. and THANK YOU to all the "Participating" SCFLIER Members for your great input to our SCFLIER SportCruiser forum on MANY Topics of Interest about the AWESOME CSA SportCruiser/PiperSport line of Light Sport Aircraft ! 7. On the loss of the Garmin 796 to me, that is significant. I'd rather have multiple redundant OPTIONS ON THE COCKPIT PANEL with DISPLAY CHOICES like selecting a GARMIN 796 WEATHER ONLY page, maybe satellite cloud cover or a TRAFFIC "bullseye" range ring page, or the WAYPOINT radio frequencies page, or an AIRPORT/TAXI Diagram, or.... I fly with a backup to our 696. It's the new Garmin Aera 660 that clips in to a custom mount under the glareshield directly over the 696 display when it fails. Everything fails eventually. Being prepared with backup, redundant display options IN THE PANEL is a good idea. The 796 weighs < 2 lbs with battery and mount. I'd want it in a $170k LSA I also carry an iPhone and iPad, but they aren't as nice as INSTALLED Panel mounted Garmin products which can Bluetooth to our GDL-39 R for FREE ADS-B IN TRAFFIC and WEATHER. In the cockpit panel center. Looks to me like a GARMIN Aera 660 would still fit in the new SportCruiser center panel.... D
  8. Bob Crusader16 once you get the answer on the CSA Letter of Authorization plans for ADS-B OUT and IN solutions to owners of "non SKYVIEW equipped" CRUZ S-LSA, you might ask for an update on the list of Improvements to the CRUZ LSA voted on by SCFLIER Members and a topic in SCFLIER called "What Improvements would you like to see in the SportCruiser CRUZ LSA" The list attached in the picture below was delivered to Czech Sport Aircraft last year at Oshkosh in July of 2016. The "Top 5" Improvements desired by SCFLIER Forum Voters (July 2016) for the CRUZ LSA Aircraft are: 0) High Priority for ALL USA Non-SkyView CRUZ S-LSA owners - LOAs for ADS-B OUT (and IN) equipment 1) Letter of Authorization from CSA to allow incorporation of the Dynon Angle of Attack Probe to feed D-100 and SkyView AOA Displays 2) Improved Cruise Speed and Climb Performance 3) Improved Engine Cooling on the Ground especially in Hot Climates 4) Improved Reliability of the Ducati Rectifier/Regulator, especially in Hot Conditions 5) Improved Inside Cockpit Canopy Release Handle this also might be a good time for our new SCFLIER Members to provide input to our "list of desired CRUZ LSA improvements".... Any thoughts/additions/comments from our newest SCFLIERs on your CRUZ LSA "Wish List" ? thanks Dave
  9. Pictures from the Cruiser Aircraft booth at Oshkosh 2017 from the http://www.czechsportaircraft.com/en/ and http://www.cruiseraircraft.com/en/ Websites.... any SCFLIERs on site at KOSH ? D

  13. To all SCFLIER SportCruiser Forum members: in one week, on August 1, 2017, I will be drawing a name randomly to determine the winner of the Garmin GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN dual band Traffic and Weather receiver with backup attitude AHRS, external GPS/ADS-B IN antennas, cabling, and accessories !!! if you already have "PARTICIPATED" (at least four total posts) on your SCFLIER Forum, you are ALREADY eligible and will have a valid "raffle ticket" for the GDL-39 3D plus accessories worth over $1000 US. The GARMIN GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather (FIS-B WX is available in USA Airspace only) Receiver can be interfaced to display ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather data on many of our CRUZ LSA Garmin Cockpit GPS Map displays on the aircraft panel, either by a "hard wire" connection (no AHRS, Garmin 396/496 Traffic Only, 5XX/696 both Traffic and Weather) or via "hard wire" cable or Wireless Bluetooth interfaces (Garmin 796 and the new Aera 660, both Traffic and Weather, as well as AHRS Backup Attitude called "SynVis"). and also, the GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN Receiver will Wirelessly interface both ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather and also AHRS Backup Attitude to iPad/iPhone/Android devices running Garmin Pilot or ForeFlight. see above earlier SCFLIER posts on the GDL-39 3D Participation Raffle for more technical details and the last picture posted below for Garmin GDL-39 3D to Garmin GPS Map Device XYZ Interface Compatibility details. NOTE- With a USA S-LSA CRUZ aircraft, a tail number specific Czech Sport Aircraft signed Letter of Authorization is required for "non-portable, hard wired" permanent on-aircraft installation of the GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN receiver and external GPS & ADS-B IN aircraft antennas. Your "PARTICIPATION" on SCFLIER with at least 4 total Postings before July 30, 2017 gets you a free "raffle ticket". What can you post on SCFLIER to be eligible for the GDL-39 3D raffle ? Just about anything, like a picture of you and your airplane, a Rotax 912 Maintenance tip or question, a post detailing your latest CRUZ LSA flying adventure, information on your home Airport/Airspace, CRUZ LSA flying techniques.....you pick the topics related to our favorite CSA CRUZ Light Sport Aircraft. Right now, the raffle odds are "good", with less than 60 SCFLIERS who have at least four posts, out of our total of 274 Forum Members. Stay tuned for the announcement of the RAFFLE WINNER of the Garmin GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN Receiver including valuable accessories / external antennas / cables / connector adapters, carrying case, more..... The GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN Receiver Winner will be announced here on the SCFLIER Forum On August 1, 2017 - right after OSHKOSH !!! Dave
  14. The Current Active, Validated Members with Log-In Privileges on the SCFLIER SportCruiser Forum is 274 SCFLIER Forum Members as of 7/22/2017 !!! WELCOME to all the new SCFLIER SportCruiser Forum members !!! Looking forward to some great CRUZ LSA aircraft postings, pictures, videos, .... from all our new SCFLIER Members and some CSA CRUZ LSA news and information ....from CSA and CRUISER AIRCRAFT at the USA Experimental Aviation Association AirVenture at Oshkosh 2017 !!! https://youtu.be/To-2QA-iuj4 Dave SCFLIER Admin
  15. Jpcbank In the USA, the CRUZ is the "type" of aircraft that corresponds with a "SportCruiser" and a "PiperSport". when Air traffic Control (ATC) asks for our aircraft type over the radio, we respond Charlie Romeo Uniform Zulu - CRUZ We don't have any PS-28 aircraft in the USA, but they would also be "CRUZ" type LSA's, just the name PS-28 Is used for the "same" LSA line of CSA aircraft sold in Europe. I use the terms CRUZ, SportCruiser, PiperSport, and PS-28 all to refer to the same line of very nice Light Sport Aircraft built by CZAW (the earlier "Legacy" SportCruisers) or currently CSA Czech Sport Aircraft for the PiperSport and latest production SportCruiser LSA's. Dave
  16. The Current Active, Validated Members with Log-In Privileges on the SCFLIER SportCruiser Forum is 263 SCFLIER Forum Members as of 6/13/2017 ! In June, we added New Members from the UK, Ireland and the USA ! We would love to hear from all the new Members ! Pictures of your SportCruiser aircraft Pictures and comments about the airport that you are based at Cool ideas on Maintenance, Flying Techniques, new Avionics, .... 17. Some additional details and "Before/After" wiring diagrams for interfacing the portable Garmin GDL-39 3D ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather receiver to a Garmin 696 GPS Map display with the 696 remaining in communication with other existing CRUZ S-LSA Avionics (and wiring): Garmin SL30 Nav/Com radio, Dynon HS-34 Expansion Module and Dynon AP-74 Autopilot (via the Dynon DSAB Smart Avionics Bus) using the GDL-39 "Serial Data Pass Thru" feature. See pics below. Note that currently, in the USA FAA regulated airspace, an S-LSA CRUZ aircraft owner can not "hard wire" a GDL-39 ADS-B IN receiver into the CRUZ S-LSA avionics without a tail number specific signed Letter of Authorization from CSA, the airplane manufacturer. For a USA Experimental E-LSA, the GDL-39 modification can be performed directly, with no CSA LOA required. The Garmin GDL-39 family of ADS-B IN Traffic and Weather receivers provides AWESOME USA FAA Traffic and Weather data products sent up by the FAA Ground Radio Towers to all aircraft, a complete local traffic picture to "participating" ADS-B OUT Equipped aircraft, and the benefits of a Dual Band (978 MHz and 1090 Mhz) Traffic receiver. D
  18. Agree with the SCFLIER comments above, and certainly Navworx has damaged their reputation by making a change to the Source Integrity Level (SIL) transmitted ADS-B OUT parameter from a "0" to a "3" on three specific later generation Navworx ADS-B units with part numbers 200-0012, 200-0013, and the "LSA/Experimental" Model ADS600–EXP units, P/N 200–8013. These specific part number units were advertised to meet the "performance requirements" (not the TSO certification requirements), which clearly the USA FAA disagrees. Transmitting a "3" gives the USA FAA ATC a way to determine if an ADS-B OUT transmitter is working correctly and is suitable for use in Safe Separation ATC activities. ADS-B OUT units' aircraft position data with SIL Transmitting a "0" will not be used by ATC. And, the USA FAA is working hard to eliminate "Non-Performing" ADS-B Out emitters from the ATC activities, a good thing for safe, reliable aircraft separation in areas where ADS-B OUT will be required on 1/1/2020. Navworx modified their software to transmit a SIL of "3" for part numbers 200-0012, 200-0013, and the "LSA/Experimental" Model ADS600–EXP units, P/N 200–8013 when (early 2016) the FAA terminated providing Traffic Information Service—Broadcast (TIS–B) services to aircraft broadcasting ADS–B with a SIL of 0. The USA FAA made this change to prevent "Non-Performing" Emitters from "participating" in the improved Traffic data provided ONLY to acceptable ADS-B OUT performing aircraft. The FAA's concern, of course, was safe separation of aircraft. From the USA FAA AD: "FAA Response: NavWorx has not demonstrated to the FAA that the internal position source meets the performance requirements in Appendix B to AC 20–165B1 for a SIL of 3. The design specifications for NavWorx’s P/N 200–0012 and 200–0013 ADS–B units identify the internal GPS source for those units as an uncertified SiRF IV GPS. The SiRF IV is a commercial grade chipset not manufactured under an FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO). AC 20–165B requires the SIL be set at 0 when the ADS–B is integrated with an uncertified GPS source. The FAA says ..."It is NavWorx’s change of the SIL setting in these units to 3, without any qualification of the internal uncertified GPS position source to support broadcast of SIL 3, that the FAA finds unacceptable. In this condition, the units are transmitting to ATC and to nearby aircraft that they have 14 CFR § 91.227-compliant position source integrity, when their position source integrity is actually not compliant with that rule, or is unknown." "The FAA’s safety concern is primarily that of integrity, and not necessarily accuracy, with respect to the NavWorx ADS–B unit’s performance requirements. Accuracy refers to the probability of the unit’s true position in relation to its reported position. Integrity refers to the trust that can be placed in the correctness of the information provided by the unit and is specified by a SIL value. The SIL value is set based on design data from the GPS position source manufacturer and reflects the probability that the position source will provide incorrect data without providing an alert." It is important to note that Navworx earlier generation (circa 2012) ADS600-B OUT/IN UAT units with part numbers 200-0112, and 200-0113 use a CERTIFIED GPS Position Source chipset built by Accord Technologies (now NexNav) and these earlier model Navworx UAT's MEET the USA FAA TSO Performance requirements, have 91.227 Compliant Position Source Integrity, and are NOT the subject of the Airworthiness Directive, and are still legal, accurate, and provide a System Integrity Level (SIL=3) acceptable to the USA FAA for use in Safe Separation of Aircraft ATC. The early model Navworx UAT's part number 200-0112 and 200-0113 use the Accord NexNav mini GPS position source, which is internal to the TSO certified GPS Position Source Navworx UAT's. From the FAA AD: - a Summary of Navworx Part Numbers and GPS Positions Sources used: "P/N 200–0112 and P/N 200–0113 are 2020 compliant, as these units contain a TSO–C145c approved Accord NexNav Mini internal GPS. P/N 200–0012 and P/ N 200–0013, which are the subject of this AD, are not 2020 compliant because these units contain the uncertified SiRF IV GPS." What does Source Integrity Level, SIL = 3 Mean ? SIL refers to the GPS Position Source Integrity - the correctness of the information provided by the ADS-B OUT unit. Source Integrity Level, SIL = 3 means that the per flight hour or per sample probability of exceeding the horizontal NIC containment radius is less than or equal to 1X10**-7. NIC - Navigation Integrity Category. NIC specifies an "integrity containment" radius around an aircraft's reported position. The aircraft's NIC must be less than 0.2 nautical miles; i.e., NIC must be > or equal to 7. The FAA AD https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2017-06-06/pdf/2017-11625.pdf
  19. RTK, Shawn, ..... Seems like the following thoughts may apply re "why aren't the CSA LOAs for ADS-B solutions available yet".... and many more situations involving the human condition....An attempt at humor.... "Hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including..." "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" or "Don't assume bad intentions over neglect and misunderstanding." And Another variation of this thought.... "... misunderstandings and neglect create more confusion in this world than trickery and malice. At any rate, the last two are certainly much less frequent...." might make your brain(s) hurt a little less. D
  20. Well, that sounds great Shawn, but that's not the way the IPS Software 4.X works. It lays the "Website" buttons on TOP of the Image that I upload to the site. Not as sophisticated as it might could be. So, the banner image background must be "color matched" to the existing IPS Software background image. They are not "separable". There is a new version out there now.... Dave
  21. No worries I'll give it some work and we shall see if the smaller banner image can be "IMPROVED".... stand by Dave
  22. WmInce Yes, I see that. Somewhat annoying, certainly not Perfect, but I think the latest version is improved over prior imagery where the data was "on top" of each other and mostly unreadable near the "Buttons". The IPS Software has trouble registering and aligning different pixel size forum banner images on their 4.X Website SW. I chose to "quickly hit the compromise" where no "button" or image data was obscured, and it looked usable to me as is....I can spend more time working on an exact match by manually setting uploadable SCFLIER Forum banner sizes with X by Y defined pixel images to the Website SW if this really bothers you. However, the Website interface is fairly clunky and it is a trial and error process, which may interrupt others' viewing of the key "buttons" on the top while I iterate changes to a "perfect" solution..... My "new forum banner imagery test plan" includes the following "computer display types" that I test each banner image change against: HP Desktop Computer with large 22 Inch Screen HP Laptop Computer with smaller 14 inch screen iPhone 6S Portrait display mode Landscape display mode iPad Mini Portrait display mode Landscape display mode As you can see, I will need to test six computer display types for each banner modification made. I believe that the iPad Mini display "look" is similar if not identical to a "full size iPad", but I no longer carry a "full size" iPad, so that is another untested (by me) variable. As you can see, my list of various displays to test and verify banner performance doesn't include Android Devices. Curious if we have anyone reading the SCFLIER Forum on an Android device. Friendly Feedback Welcome.... Dave
