  1. i visited the local approach center here in omaha about class  C airspace and told them  i was concerned about density of air traffic without adbs out equipment  flying on the fringes of class C without radio contact. i was told that radio communication was not required as long as you remained clear and it was voluntary to contact approach control. FAA  at sun and fun confirmed this as well. personally i will make contact with ATC even if i dont fly in class C airspace and it is not required for me do so if i am within 20 miles of class C airspace for traffic advisories.  josh wanted to get technical information and diagrams  for installation from uavionix to show czech aircraft factory to expedite process and maybe get a service bulletin issued for installation.

I understand you are hoping to get this equipment approved and installed. Please keep in mind you are talking about waiting until July to "get the latest information" because the ADS-B deadline is fast approaching. If this is the equipment you are wanting I'd start the LOA process today by filling out the form and get the ball rolling. What if CSA just drags their feet as usual? With with the end of the year approaching you run the risk of being grounded or unable to fly in rule airspace. I wish you luck with this.

i can fly here in midwest without entering class C airspace easily. i have a zayon traffic alert installed that shows other transponder equipped aircraft with voice alerts on my garmin 510 and have altitude reporting transponder and can my plane be detected by other traffic devices on other aircraft. adbs out is a low priority for me now but to install adbs in and out easily and cheaply  is something i may consider. handheld devices can get you weather.  easy to talk me out of installing adbs out .....lol

  3. welcome aboard !!!   i talked to josh at sun and fun and got literature from uavionix dealer at the airshow and gave it to him. josh will be going soon to the czech aircraft factory  to talk them and will try to get a L O A for uavianix adbs in and out  installation. get both for 2499 dollars. left and right wingtip  lights are replaced in ten minutes. easiest adbs solution hopefully get this done soon.  you can message him here or at josh.scheid@cruiseraircraft.com and he will be happy to answer any questions about this and his up coming trip.

I’ve been reading over the forum on ADS B and thought I’d take a minute to introduce myself.  My first flight ever was in my instructors Piper sport.  I was hooked.  Looked for two year and eventually found the perfect fit and bought the same type I took lessons in.  I look forward to hanging in the background and reading over your posts.  Thanks to those who have taken the time to put all this great info out there!

  5. i purchased by sportcruiser new in  august 2011.  no other lightsport plane could match its graceful good looks. always wanted to own a plane and figured it would be alot fun. after seven years of ownership , its been twice as much fun that i thought it would be. hope you have a hanger for yr plane justin and am sure you will enjoy it more than you think. there is no such thing as a stupid question here justin, just stupid people afraid to ask a question...lol

    cheers

  6. i have a 2011 sport cruiser with extra flared wing tips and have a hard time getting 105 knots indicated with 5300 rpm.  being 6'5, i can see ok over the nose straight and level. i noticed my shorter passengers had a tendency to get air sick and one day when he sat on a cushion he brought along and could see over the nose, no more air sickness. you will enjoy  yr plane with yr mechanical expertise and helpful advice from this great forum and glad yr here

  7. thanks for the comprehensive answer and common sense of complete accurate records. i do not want to make changes to airframe and powerplant or different type landing gear such as tail dragger from nosewheel.  only reason is to install avionics for adbs out. if this is only entry on log book after changing to experimental, then future buyers should feel better i think.

  8. seems controversial to change to experimental to install safety equipment.  but if you were to puchase a used plane and had a choice of one that had safety equipment installed with option of easily adding other features you would like, wouldnt that plane have more value to you than a factory certified plane without ability to make changes or with safety equipment?
